The New Runs Machine – D’ahri Francis

A month ago, he had no centuries just a few fifties and a few good knocks. However, he has put the past behind him and is now embracing the newfound feeling of reaching three figures, taking off his helmet and soaking up the applause from the supporters. The wicketkeeper-batsman scored his third century in a month on Sunday afternoon at home vs Evington Lion CC while wickets fell all around him in a very familiar fashion to his first hundred for Mahico CC.

Francis scored 125 with 6 fours and 9 maximums, receiving little support from the other batters to propel Grantham to 200 for 9 from their 40 overs. Moreover, his countryman Glenton Williams was also present to help restrict Evington to 169 all out. He picked up 4 for 46 as Grantham won by 31 runs. Francis also leads the run aggregates with 274 runs at an average of 137.00.

Further Afield!

Springfield CC Ishmael Peters continues to have a good season with bat and ball as he collected four scalps in his team’s loss to Ashton Ladysmith CC. He also contributed a handy 34 to help his team 163 all out which wasn’t enough to defend against their opponents.

Another allrounder has been plying his trade well as he adjusts to the English climate. Jaylen Francis of Keyworth CC made light work of the bottom order of Attenborough CC picking up 4 for 34 as his side rolled over them by some 81 runs. He also chipped in with 25 to help his team to post 256 for 8.

Finally, Pigotts Crushers Kadeem Henry representing Marshfield CC snapped up 4 for 34 also as he teamed up with fellow Antiguan fast bowler Robert Joseph who snagged 3 wickets. The two have greatly assisted Marshfield who currently sits at the top of the table for the division.
